Solo

Invariably, while on my way to fulfill some promise or to run an errand, I find myself in need of some instrument that would help me see a bird better.  I keep a pair of binoculars handy around the house.  Yet, I find it more of a challenge to keep a pair handy in a car.  I believe I have a solution now.

Hikers and backpacker may appreciate this solution, too.  Their concern always includes the amount of weight carried.  The goal is to be as well prepared as possible but minimalist in weight.

Take a look at the Vortex 8 x 36 Solo monocular.  Less than five inches, less than 10 ounces, perfect size and weight for both scenarios above.  It’ll fit in the glove compartment or side door pocket.  Spy a small bird in the fence row, whip out the Solo and you have a very nice sighting.  Return it to its snug cubbyhole and off you go.  The hiker can wear it on his or her belt using the utility clip or fit it in the pack.

This is it.  This is what you’ve been looking for.  It’s small, compact, rugged and comfortable in your hand.  It’s fully multi-coated with antireflective coatings for bright clear images.
